SAN FRANCISCO, CA, June 11, 2014 – The Wiki Education Foundation board of directors has elected Karen A. Twitchell as a new member. Twitchell will chair the Audit Committee of the board.

Twitchell brings extensive experience in board governance and financial management to the Wiki Education Foundation board. She is currently a board member and on the audit committees of both Kraton Performance Polymers and KMG Chemicals, and previously worked in financial executive positions for more than 30 years.

“Karen brings much financial knowledge and experience to our board and, as chair of the Wiki Education Foundation audit committee, will provide leadership in the board’s oversight of all aspects of financial reporting and compliance,” said Dr. Diana Strassmann, Carolyn and Fred McManis Distinguished Professor in the Practice at Rice University and chair of the board of the Wiki Education Foundation.

Twitchell has a B.A. in Economics from Wellesley College and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. From 2010 to 2013 she was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Landmark Aviation. Prior to that she was Vice President and Treasurer of Lyondell Chemical Company for nine years.

“I am excited to assist the Wiki Education Foundation in its mission to bring Wikipedia editing into university campuses in the United States and Canada,” said Twitchell.
